Hythe Ranges latest news

Due to staff shortages throughout the next few months and due to retirements and annual holidays for the staff that are left working we should expect a lot of cancellations. This will impact all civilian clubs and the military training.

It now seems that Hythe ranges will not be accommodating civilian clubs until the new year.

6.5 on Hythe Ranges

6.5 can be used on Hythe Serials 2 and 10, but only after HME test

Guests on MOD ranges

As of January 2025 guests are no longer allowed to handle firearms on MOD ranges. Only full members and probationary members are allowed to use firearms.

Guests however, are welcome on an MOD range to ‘get a taste of the Oyster Rifle Club and its members’ and get a closer look at long range shooting, albeit without handling a firearm.

If and when a shooter is serious about membership of the ORC he / she can become a probationary member. Probationary members are allowed to use firearms on MOD ranges.

A probationary member pays £30.00 in administration fees and probationary membership fees of £65.00. He / she will also need to supply four passport type photographs.

A probationary member must attend at least six shoots, two of which must be full bore shoots.

Once this is completed and the probationary member has been assessed as a safe shooter, plus, of course, a person that we would be happy to have as a member, he / she will be issued an NRA affiliated shooters card by the club chairman.

Once a probationary member becomes a full member, the remainder (£135.00) of the full membership fees will become payable.

Membership for shooters outide the UK
